We are currently hiring a Director or Senior Director, Project Delivery to join our team! In this role, you will offer executive level oversight and governance to projects while also providing a wider perspective of the clinical development landscape.  Working closely with the Business Development team, you’ll support sales activities, including pipeline review, preparing for and attending current and future client meetings, managing client expectations to help secure repeat business and developing and maintaining positive relationships with key decision makers.  Through operational strategy, you will also support project managers and teams to ensure high-quality and timely program delivery.  Working on domestic trials of moderate size and complexity, you will have knowledge of clinical trial operations, including initial development plan formulation, protocol writing, trial implementation, monitoring and delivery, clinical study report writing, and marketing applications.

Responsibilities

  • Forecast, prioritize, and direct staff to achieve on-time sponsor deliverables with quality and in accordance with contracted scope and Customer expectations.
  • Drive win strategy, preparation and facilitation of bid defense meetings in collaboration with Clinical Operations and Business Development.
  • Provide operational approval of proposed budgets and proposal text on moderately complex domestic studies.
  • Oversee project management teams to drive financial management of assigned projects (executed contracts, CNFs, change orders, forecasting, invoicing, etc.).
  • Assist project management team in the preparation, and data interpretation for PCMs and PSMs
  • Actively mentor Project Management staff in leadership skills, customer management skills, project management skills, Trusted Process compliance, and project specific tasks; share lessons learned and best practices across programs, building relationships with key stakeholders cross-functionally, across all levels.
  • Provide support to teams, regularly and comprehensively assessing and mitigating risks on their projects to assure patient safety, data integrity and quality project delivery.
  • Participate in corporate initiatives.
  • Represent Operations for Rho at industry conferences.
  • Assist in the development of SME content.
  • Support Change Management, including adjustments based on emerging business or technical opportunities and challenges.
  • Maintain senior management-level relationships with Customers via routine meetings, governance meetings and other forums.
  • Utilizes expertise to improve delivery, profitability, quality, and client satisfaction by taking a hands-on approach with project team and scope.
  • Measure project progress, risks and trends using a metrics and KPI approach to achieve project milestones delivery in the assigned program.
  • Awareness of resource allocations and utilization rates compared to project budgets to ensure financial profitability. 
  • Identify and maximize opportunities to secure repeated business, removes or mitigate risks, blockages, and issues in existing projects to enhance chances to achieve repeated business.
  • Organize and facilitate meetings with Customer and PM/PD/teams to review and discuss risks, status, and opportunities for of awarded projects, to improve delivery, profitability, quality and/or client satisfaction.
  • Serve as a liaison with Business Development and Proposals and Contracts for driving strategy and participating in business development opportunities which may span customer interactions/presentations, proposal and budget development, bid defense meetings, and work order negotiation and execution.
  • Ensure project risks and potential contingencies impacting time/quality/cost of deliverables are discussed with Senior Management through appropriate escalation pathways. Supports Project Management review and assessment of project profitability through the identification of “out of scope” activity in a timely manner and supporting follow through on all aspects of contract modification.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferable in Life Science or related field, with a minimum of six years of experience managing full-service and global clinical trials, including experience managing/overseeing site start-up activities, actively managing patient enrollment, tracking, and reporting KPIs, and managing clinical trial timelines.
  • Experience developing and managing clinical trial budgets, including moderately complex domestic budget development and simple global development.
  • Experience managing project managers, either via direct line management or matrix/project management; Experience mentoring and developing more junior staff.
  • Solid understanding of project staffing and typical project team structures.
  • Exhibits clear understanding of the drug development process.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients.
  • Demonstrates effective decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to balance competing priorities; ability to see patterns in issues, discount non-issues and prioritize to make progress.
  • Proactive and effective communicator.
  • Ability to identify issues within a project and lead the team to resolution.
  • A subject matter expert in project management.
  • Ability to bring order to situations that others may perceive as disjointed.
  • Ability to “get things done” in complex situations with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed, up to 30%
